Have the Riches of the World

Have the Riches of the World

Have the Riches of the World I love sport.

I love watching, I love participating.  More importantly, I love the lessons learned from sport.  From the depths of competition.

Plato’s quote, “You can discover more about a person from an hour of play than in a year of conversation” Is perfectly played out on the sporting arena.

I have talked and written about habits, and it is the sporting arena, within the depths of competition, that the practiced habitual patterns, whether they be good or bad bubble to the surface.  These habitual patterns become ingrained in us.  They are the results of what we do on a day to day basis.  What we practice.

If we want a specific result, we need to practice (or do) a particular thing.  An example of this was seen in an interview with Cooper Cronk.  They (the Melbourne Storm) had just beaten South Sydney by a huge margin.  In sporting talk, Melbourne put Souths to the sword.  Melbourne could have taken their foot off the accelerator and gone into cruise control, yet they continued to dominate, they continued to fight for the win.

They scored more points; they help the opposition ball up over the line, denying South Sydney from scoring points. It was not just in attack.  There was an intense defensive effort also.

After each try was scored and the team headed towards half way, the senior players rallied around the playing group and told the team it was time to reset; to start from zero.  They needed to get the little things right; to practice the good habits that they had practiced in training.  Reset and continue.

The key – their mind.  Their belief.  In order to have or to gain a result you need to DO something.  However, unless you BElieve in what you are doing there is an incongruence and you will not attain the desired result.

In day to day life, we all know to all sit up straight; eat healthier food; drink more water; exercise on a regular basis; get more sleep; etc.  Unless however we DO this for a higher purpose, our being, we will not replace bad habits with better, less damaging ones.

My BE? My family.  My nuclear family, Ivanka, Zara & Hamish; my bigger ‘ohana’, my chiropractic family which is YOU, and my community.

Find and define your BE and have what you DO congruent with that.  From here you will HAVE the riches of the world.
