Did you know that our body continually replicates itself!
New cells come to take the place of old cells, sick, weakened, run down, or dying cells. In fact, if I brush my hand, I brush off thousands of dead skin cells. But, that’s OK though, because new ones are coming through to take the place of the old ones. Just about every cell in the body has a life span.
Our skin cells last 35-43 days. Red blood cells last 90-120 days then they die. However, that’s OK because new ones come in to replace those. Bone cells last 18 months. Liver cells last about 90 days. Stomach cells last about 60 days.
As a matter of fact, as you sit there reading this article, your blood cells are dying, but that’s ok as long as new healthy ones come through to replace them. That’s what health and the healing process is about, the creation of new tissues and new cells.
After 7 years, you have a brand new body.
Let me put this into perspective. If you’ve been married 21 years, then in reality you are on to your third spouse…think about it. But, why if you are on to your third spouse, why are they so much like the first one? There is a reason for that.
There is one major system in the body that doesn’t replicate. In other words, with these cells you have them when you are born and you have the same number when you die. With the exception for the ones that you lose along the way through life. They don’t replicate (we can lay down new pathways – neuroplasticity) Which are they? The brain cells and nerve tissue.
So, healing is the generation of new tissues and new cells.
